Gaoming is mild all year round with abundant sunshine and sufficient rainfalls and fertile soil, which is fit for farming, forestry, animal husbandry, sideline and fishery. Therefore Gaoming has been reputed as “A land flowing with milk and honey”. Thanks to Cangjiang River and its fifteen branches scattering all over the whole district which finally flow into Xijiang River, Gaoming has very rich water resources. The quality of drinking water reaches the national second-degree standard. Besides, Gaoming is rich in mineral resources. Up till now there are up to 14kinds of minerals are found, like granite, limestone, iron, manganese, gold, silver etc. And Fuwan silver mine is the largest individual found silver deposit in our country at present and is also a super scale mine in reserves.

Moreover, Gaoming is one of the key forest regions in Pearl River Delta, whose forest covers 50% of the upland. In 2000, Gaoming was awarded“The Best Hundred County (City)” for forestation and virescence. In 2001, the People’s Government of Gaoming District was awarded the title “National Advanced Collectivity of Afforestation”. Gaoming owns rich and unique tourism resources. Blue sky, clean water and green land build Gaoming into a special rural place in the Pearl River Delta where there are a great number of factories. The main resorts of Gaoming are consisted by virgin forest of Heshui, the ruin of Tang Dynasty’s dragon kiln, Linggui tower, Xikeng reservoir of Yangmei, Wanbao hill station, the clouds of Zaomu Peak, Ten Li green corridor of Xian, which is reputed as the Nine-Village-Valley of the Pearl River Delta.
